It comes with a paper backing, which just needs to be removed prior to sanding.

This sandpaper roll has been designed for sanding by hand and for light machine sanding. Consequently, the hard-wearing backing material ensures Hiomant is long-lasting with excellent edge wear resistance. It gives you amazing and consistent sanding results.

You can also use masking tape to protect adjacent surfaces, while the abrasive roll ensures that you get an effective stock removal of the non-protected areas. However, for the best experience, please make sure to put down dust sheets where needed to collect the dust that is generated, along with making sure that you and people near you wear dust masks so they do not breathe in the particles.

If you are sanding doors, it is also advised that you remove any items on the door before sanding, such as door handles.
